This position is located in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Chronic Disease Preventionand Health Promotion (NCCDPHP), Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (DHDSP), Applied Research and Evaluation Branch (AREB), Jackson, MS.
NOTE: This is a term appointment for one year and may be extended on an annual basis for a period of up to four years.

The incumbent designs, oversees, implements, and conducts major evaluation surveys/studies, research or projects to identify and solve public health problems. Collects, analyzes and interprets data using appropriate quantitative or qualitative methods. Searches, synthesizes and interprets information relevant to public health. Reviews and analyzes evaluation findings in order to make recommendations for processes, procedures and/or policies related to public health programs, policies, and/or resources allocations. Specifically, the incumbent will lead and conduct systematic evaluative assessments of the Mississippi Delta Health Collaborative (MDHC) program's or specific project's inputs, activities and outputs to determine its value or worth and to improve the program. Lead and conduct process and outcome evaluation including health care evaluations, such as those evaluating interventions to improve blood pressure/cholesterol measures. Facilitate stakeholde! r meetings that may include health department leadership, program staff, clinical staff (physicians, pharmacists, nurses), CDC staff and community leaders. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - Behavioral Scientist
Applicants must have successfully completed a full four-year course of study at an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position OR Have a combination of education and experience -- that provided the applicant with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field OR Have four (4) years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledg! e of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a m! ajor in the field.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - Health Scientist
Applicants must have successfully completed a full four-year course of study at an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in an academic field related to the health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.
Specialized experience is that which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include planning, developing, implementing, and analysis of evaluation projects and/or applied research studies in a health field.
Foreign Education: If you are using education comple! ted in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
