In addition: This positionÂ's initial ! duty station is Biloxi, MS ; however the duty station, based upon the needs of the health care system, may require the individual to work from other facilities (e.g., Mobile Outpatient Clinic, Alabama; Eglin Outpatient Clinic, Florida ; Joint Ambulatory Care Center Pensacola , Florida; and Panama City Outpatient Clinics , Florida).

Current Unrestricted Nursing License DUTIES:
The RN (Ambulatory Surgery Outpatient) assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction. She/he considers all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences. Also administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. The incumbent influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. The core elements of performance include knowledge and active participation in unit/program level quality improvement processes and initiatives as well as customer service.
In addition, the RN (Ambulatory Surgery Outpatient) demonstrates c! onsistent clinical competence in providing nursing care. Uses equipment! correctly and accurately interprets data. Recognizes subtle changes in patient's condition and responds timely, choosing the correct interventions. The RN shows evidence of critical thinking skills in identifying, analyzing, and resolving patient care problems on the unit. Initiates and implements an interdisciplinary plan of care based on assessments. She/he performs ongoing assessment of patient condition and response to treatment. Provides leadership in establishing goals, evaluating the plan of care, and in discharge planning Assesses the patient's learning needs, learning preference, and readiness to learn. Modifies teaching approach based on knowledge of human behavior, motivations, and reactions to situations.
PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS/EXPERIENCE: In addition to the basic qualification requirements, applicants must have demonstrated evidence of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities determined to be essential for satisfactory performance in t! he position.

6. IV and venipuncture experience preferred.
7. Radiology procedures experience desired.
8. At least 3 years RN experience is preferred.
9. Moderate sedation experience is preferred.
10.Moderate sedation: willing to obtain competency for this position with experienced nursing background.
11.Critical care nursing experience preferred.
12. Current ACLS/BLS preferred. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.
The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to th! e VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6)
Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, no experience.
- Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field and no experience; or a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) and no experience.
- Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of experience; or a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of experience, or a Master's degree in nu! rsing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no experience.
- Nur! se II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of experience, or ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years experience or a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 years experience, or a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no experience.
- Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years experience or Doctoral degree in nursing or related field and approximately 2-3 years
Experience as a RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following four dimensions of nursing: Practice, Professional Development, Collaboration and Scientific Inquiry. Each dimension of practice has criteria that demonstrate essential core competencies for VHA Nursing Personnel.

Physical Requirements: This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking (8 Hours), standing (8 Hours), repeated stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, lifting & carrying (15-45 pounds) and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementi! a, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs.
