Incumbents ensure the coordination of work performed by bureau staff through monitoring health facility surveys and licensure and certification actions, by regulating staff activity! through orientation and training programs, and by keeping abreast of current laws and regulations. The work requires a knowledge of all state and federal laws and regulations pertinent to health care providers and a thorough understanding of the licensure and certification process. Incumbents work under the general direction of an administrative superior.
Examples of Work:
Examples of work performed in this classification include, but are not limited to, the following:
Monitors the efforts of the licensure officer and/or certification officer.
Develops orientation and staff development programs for bureau employees.
Plans and conducts training sessions for health care providers and their staffs.
Develops and recommends policies and procedures for the bureau and assures that they are maintained.
Conducts in-state review of survey findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
Monitors licensure and certi! fication actions taken on health care providers.
Moni! tors the maintenance of licensure and certification processes.
Monitors the gathering and utilization of appropriate statistical data and the preparation of required statistical reports.
Assists in the development of and revisions to appropriate state licensure regulations.
Monitors the maintenance and storage of records.
Reviews the scheduling of surveys of all health care providers.
Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Fire Safety Surveyor:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university;
AND
Experience:
Six (6) years of experience related to the described duties, two (2) years of which must have included line or functional supervision.
OR
Education:
Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent (GED);
AND
Experience:
Ten (10) years of experience related to the described duties.
OR
Administrative Surveyor (Generalist):
Education: Master's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university;!
AND
Experience:
Five (5) years of experience related to the described duties, two (2) years of which must have included line or functional supervision.
OR
Education:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university;
AND
Experience:
Six (6) years of experience related to the described duties, two (2) years of which must have included line or functional supervision.
OR
Medical Technology Surveyor:
Certification:
Certification as a Medical Technologist by recognized certification authorities and possession of a certificate in medical technology;
AND
Experience:
Five (5) years of experience related to the described duties, two (2) years of which must have included line or functional supervision.
OR
Nursing Surveyor:
Licensure:
Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the! State of Mississippi;
AND
Experience:
Five (5) years of experience related the described duties, two (2) years of which must have included line or functional supervision.
OR
Dietary Surveyor:
Registration:
Active registration as a dietitian by the American Dietetic Association;
AND
Experience:
Five (5) years of experience related to the described duties, two (2) years of which must have included line or functional supervision.
OR
Medical Records Surveyor:
Registration:
Registration as a medical records administrator by the American Medical Records Association;
AND
Experience:
Five (5) years of experience related to the described duties, two (2) years of which must have included line or functional supervision.
OR
Pharmaceutical Surveyor:
Licensure:
Licensure to practice ! as a Registered Pharmacist by the State of Mississippi;
AND
Experience:
Five (5) years experience related to the described duties, two (2) years of which must have included line or functional supervision.
Required Document:
Applicant must attach a valid copy of applicable certification, licensure, or registration.
Essential Functions:
Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring agency. The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
