As an Assistant Supervisory Clinical Nurse, you will:
Execute comprehensive nursing care activities utilizing the nursing process.

Supervise Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), students and external agency personnel.

Make assignments in accordance with established written AFRH, Nursing Service and State Nurse Practice guidelines.

Assume au! thority to make changes within the immediate unit and work ass! ignments of staff which are deemed not within the employees’ scope of practice or ability.

Adjust workload to accommodate changes in resident healthcare needs. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Applicants must meet all qualification requirements, including the following, by the closing date:

Education: A degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant is required. Candidates must provide sufficient information at the time of application to determine that the educational requirements are met. Licensure: Applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. An applicant who has graduated from an approved nursing educational program within the past 12 months may be appointed pending State registration as a professional nurse within 6 months of appointment. No person appointed pending registration may be retained beyond 6 months, or promoted, if registration has not been attained.

SPECIAL NOTE: Long-term care experience and/or interacting with geriatric patients is highly desired.

Specialized Experience:
For the GS-11 You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-10 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position must include overseeing physician/n! ursing care plans AND reviewing and making recommendations for improvem! ent to quality of overall nursing care.

OR

Education:
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:
For the GS-11 level: Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education. Graduate level education must have been in nursing with a concentration in a field of nursing (e.g. teaching, a clinical speciality, research, administration, etc.) or in a closely related non-nursing field.

Ability to supervise, monitor, and oversee staff performance to assure work is accomplished in a timely manner and in accordance with established guidelines.

Ability to professionally interact with other healthcare disciplines and community partners to ensure care needs are met.

Experience making clinically sound judgments considering nursing procedures, legal responsibilities, and limitations.

This pos! ition is an intermittent position to assist with RN house coverage on weekends, holidays and all shifts. Position may require one monthly weekend shift and two holiday shifts a calendar year - one being a major holiday defined as Christmas, New Years, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Memorial Day or Thanksgiving.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Complete a one-year probationary period (unless already completed).

Complete a one-year supervisory or managerial probationary period (unless already completed).

Submit a negative drug test prior to your appointment.
