Admissions Coordinator

Location: McComb Mississippi

Description: Hospice Compassus is in need of Admissions Coordinator right now, this position will be placed in Mississippi. Detailed specification about this position opportunity please give attention to these descriptions. Overview:
The Admissions Coordinator is responsible for answering telephone calls to the admission department; taking referrals, answering questions related to admissions and/! or referrals, and scheduling admission interviews. This individual is also responsible for proofing, correcting, and processing the admission paperwork and distributing to the appropriate interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:
1. Supports agency and corporate policies, goals, and objectives.
Promotes a positive working relationship between agency and corporate personnel.
Promotes hospice philosophy.
Communicates identified needs and potential solutions to supervisor.
2. Coordinates Referrals
Answer questions regarding admission criteria, hospice services, and referral requests.
Take admission referral and record information accurately on the referral forms and tracking sheet.
Contact physician office for admission approval when appropriate.
Contact patient /family/significant other and make appointment for admission interview.
Acquires all H&P and data material.
Performs insurance checks and pre-certifications b! y contacting insurance companies.
Conveys necessary inform! ation to admissions nurse and IDT.
3. Processes and completes all necessary admission paperwork/forms.
Documents all admission information on appropriate forms.
Disperses paperwork to appropriate IDT members and staff.
Proofs all admission paperwork.
Provides accurate and timely referral information entry into computer program.
Ensures appropriate follow up on patients not admitted to services and compiles statistical reports on monthly basis.
4. Ensures office has all the necessary supplies and papework needed for admissions purposes.

5. Other duties as performed or assigned.

Qualifications:
High school graduate. College degree preferred.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Experience in insurance and Medicare/Medicaid billing and reimbursement preferred.
History of effective communications with physicians, nurses and other healthcare personnel.
Strong leadership and organizational skills to per! form job effectively.
Must be of high integrity including maintenance of confidential information including all patient records.
Must possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, to include some evenings and weekends.
Has a valid driver's license and auto liability insurance.
Ability to meet physical job requirements as specified by attachment.
