Description: River Oaks Hospital is at present recruited Registered Nurse-Med Surg right now, this position will be placed in Mississippi. BASIC JOB PURPOSE: Responsible and accountable for assessment, planning and administering direct and indirect patient care. May assume responsibilities of charge nurse when the need arises.BASIC SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 1. Ability to plan, organize and deliver quality patient care. 2. Ability to administer medications without error. 3. Ability to start intravenous lines and administer IV fluids and medication. 4. Ability to assess and care for the physical and psychosocial needs of the patient. 5. Ability to delegate tasks and be accountable for follow up. 6. Good interpersonal skills. 7. Good verbal and written skills.WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Requires considerable amount of physical work not to exceed 50 pounds. Any workload exceeding 50 pounds will require assistance. 2. Required to pull up or reposition patients in bed, lift supplies, place equipment on supports, push beds throughout the hospital and perform external cardiac compressions. 3. Must be able to bend over to perform certain duties, e.g., check chest tube drainage, check urinary output, etc. 4. Must be able to maneuver throughout halls, stairways, and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies. Trips to various departments will be required. 5. A significant amount of writing is required. 6. Appropriately handle emergencies situations. Subject to many interruptions, multiple calls and inquiries. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. 7. Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. Exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illnesses) 8. Subject to irregular hours. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) This position requires high exposure to infectious waste such as blood and body fluids that mandate the wearing of gloves, masks, gowns and goggles (as appropriate for the type of exposure) for every actual or potential exposure. MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE, ETC., REQUIRED: 1. Current Mississippi RN license. 2. Knowledge of general nursing theories and practice. 3. Two years of Med Surg experience preferred. 4. ACLS Certification and completion of skills checklist within 90 days of employment. 5. Basic Life Support - Health Care Provider Training. 6. PALS preferred.
